In Austria, the terms "Hereditary Prince" and "King" are used to describe different ranks within the nobility and royal family. The distinction lies in the specific historical context and the titles' origins: Hereditary Prince: The title "Hereditary Prince" is typically associated with the Austrian nobility, particularly within the House of Habsburg. It is a title granted to members of the royal family who are not the reigning monarch but are next in line to the throne. This title is often used to describe the heir apparent or the heir presumptive of the throne. The title is not necessarily a sovereign position, but rather a designation of the person who will inherit the throne when the current monarch passes away or abdicates. King: In Austria, the title "King" is historically associated with the monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which existed from 1867 to 1918. The monarch held the title of Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, and the title "King" was used to describe the ruler of the Hungarian territories within the empire. The title "King" in this context is a sovereign position, indicating the highest authority and power within the empire. In summary, while both titles are part of the Austrian nobility and royal family, "Hereditary Prince" typically refers to a member of the royal family who is next in line to the throne but is not the reigning monarch, whereas "King" is a sovereign title held by the monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire or other historical kingdoms within Austria.Alexander and Hande.
